Due to the fact that the majority of the members were from New Delhi, there were difficulties in the functioning of the Society. Therefore, by dissolution of this society, the new Ambedkar Mission Society Punjab was formed.

History of Ambedkar Mission Society
A general meeting of the Ambedkar Mission Society was held on 18.02 1979 at Ambedkar Bhawan, Dr. Ambedkar marg (old nakodar road), Jalandhar (Punjab) under the chairmanship of Dr. Surendra Ajnat, president of the society at that time. The matter regarding registration of the society was discussed at length and unanimously resolved that the Ambedkar Mission Society with its registered office at Jalandhar be got registered from the government under the societies registration act 1860. Mr. L. R. Balley and Mr. H. R. Bodhi were authorised to take necessary steps in getting the society registered and engaging counsel for the purpose. They were also authorised to incur all reasonable expenses in this connection.
The society was got registered under the societies registration act (xxi of 1860). As amended by Punjab amendment act 1957 with registrar of firms & societies Punjab Chandigarh on 3rd march, 1979 with registration no. 1098 of 1978-79.

Personalities like Dr. R.D. Nar (director health services Punjab); Dr. Surinder Ajnat (MA, PHD); Mr. R. C. Paul (former judge); Dr. G. C. Kaul (MA, PHD); Mr. Gian Singh Bal (PCS) and Mr. Dwarka Bharti (Hoshiarpur) have been the presidents of “Ambedkar Mission Society Punjab (regd.)”. At present madam Sudesh Kalyan is the current president of the Ambedkar Mission Society Punjab (regd.). Madam Sudesh Kalyan is a retired officer from Durdarshan kender, Jalandhar and is the daughter of late folk poet Mr. Gurdas Ram ‘Alam’.
Ambedkar Mission Society Punjab (regd.) is successfully running its activities from Ambedkar Bhawan, Dr. Ambedkar marg, Jalandhar (Punjab) for the promotion and dissemination of Ambedkar mission.

Every year the Ambedkar Mission Society Punjab (Regd.) invites scholors from different Universities/Institutions to address the people on Dr. Ambedkar’s perspective.
